Happy Friday, everyone! Here’s what I was up to.
How I Earned Money This Week
-
I got paid for an upcoming speaking engagement.
-
I finally received the check for a speaking engagement I did in June.
-
Dan got his bi-weekly paycheck on Wednesday.
-
One of my retainer clients paid her monthly fee.
-
One of my ongoing clients paid her monthly fee.
How I Spent Money This Week
-
On Sunday, we went on our weekly grocery run at Whole Foods. We also stopped by Safeway to pick up one thing that was too expensive at Whole Foods.
-
On Wednesday, I had drinks with a friend. In fact, I still need to Venmo her the cost of my drinks!
-
Since yesterday was August 1st, that means that my monthly budget has reset. So I bought a couple things that we’ve been needing around the house but that didn’t fit into our July budget.
What I’m Writing
-
This week, on my blog, I wrote about how business owners can take care of their business finances from the very beginning.
-
Over on my ForbesWomen column, I wrote about how women’s anxiety and lack of confidence about money is increasing as they take more control over their finances.
What I’m Up To
-
The August Money Circle meetup is scheduled and ready for you! In August, we’ll be talking about money shame, how others feel the same way, and how to improve our relationship with our money. See you there!
-
I’ve been hinting at starting a podcast for a while now. But in order to make sure the podcast is interesting and helpful for YOU, I want to make sure I’m answering your questions. Fill out this form to submit any and all money questions that you have!
What I’m Excited About
-
One of the great things about working for yourself is that you can typically decide where you’re working on any given day. I’m usually working by myself at home while Bruno tries to get me to play with him. This past Wednesday, I coworked with a group of friends at one of their house’s.
-
Dan and I are doing a lot of travel planning right now. We’re heading to Maine for my birthday later in August, we’re hoping to go to Peru for our anniversary, and we’re extending a work trip of Dan’s to Japan. It’s a little overwhelming (and expensive), but these are big opportunities that I don’t want to miss. If you’ve been to any of those places, let me know if you have any must-see recommendations!
What I’m Reading
I’m currently reading Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed by Lori Gottlieb. I got sucked into Lori’s advice column Dear Therapist a while back, so I was excited when her book became available via Libby.
Money Tip to Take Into the Weekend
That’s all from me this week. Have a great weekend!
